Focused on the accounting core

A clear workspace for the work that keeps the ledger complete.

Chart was built from inside an Australian accounting practice around the source transactions, reviews and reports that straightforward files rely on. Its scope stays focused on core accounting workflows for businesses and their accountants.

01

Bank reconciliation

Bring the bank and the ledger together.

Import bank transactions, code cash movements and review possible matches before finalising the ledger.
02

Sales & purchases

Invoices, bills and credits in one clear flow.

Keep what is owed, what is due and what has been paid visible without jumping between separate tools.
03

GST & BAS preparation

GST records that stay connected to the source.

Use cash or accrual settings and review the underlying transactions before BAS figures are prepared.
04

Reporting & year end

Move from summary to detail without losing the thread.

Review profit and loss, balance sheet and general ledger detail, then use journals and period locks to close the year.

Built around the accounting sequence

Record. Review. Report.

Each step completes the one before it, so the file stays understandable from the first transaction to year end.

  1. 01

    Record the activity

Import bank transactions and record sales, purchases, money movements and fixed assets.

  2. 02

    Resolve what needs attention

Review coding, possible matches and exceptions while the detail is still current.

  3. 03

    Use the completed ledger

Prepare GST figures, financial reports and year-end records with the underlying detail intact.

Chart and Xero are designed for different accounting needs.

Chart concentrates on bookkeeping, GST records, invoices, bills, fixed assets and financial reports. Xero offers a broader product, including bank feeds, payroll and a large integration ecosystem. The right choice depends on which capabilities your business and accountant actually need.

Security and control

Your books should be orderly. Access to them should be too.

01

Controlled access

Organisation access is invitation-based, with defined roles for owners, administrators and accounting users.

02

Organisation separation

Accounting records and permissions are scoped to the relevant organisation to prevent cross-organisation access.

03

Data portability

Authorised users can export accounting data and retain their own copy of the organisation's records.

Questions, answered

The details that matter.

Who is Chart for?

Chart is designed for Australian small businesses and accounting practices that want a focused bookkeeping and reporting workspace.

Does Chart lodge BAS or provide tax advice?

No. Chart helps maintain accounting records and prepare GST/BAS figures. Lodgement and professional advice remain the responsibility of the business and its registered adviser.

How is the subscription charged?

A$240 including GST is charged per organisation for one year of access. The subscription renews annually unless cancelled before renewal.

Is there a separate fee for the accounting practice?

No. Accounting-practice users can be invited to client organisations without a separate practice access fee. Each client organisation requires its own annual Chart subscription.

Does Chart currently include automatic bank feeds?

No. Bank transactions are currently imported from CSV, then coded, matched and reconciled in Chart. Businesses that depend on connected bank feeds may be better suited to Xero today.

Can I export my accounting data?

Yes. Chart includes accounting-data export tools so authorised users can retain a copy of their records.
